Beneficiary

Beneficiary is a person or entity who is to receive benefits from an insurance policy. In cases of property insurance, auto insurance, and other similar insurance policies, the policyholder if alive, otherwise the spouse if alive, otherwise legal heirs are the beneficiaries. Minors can be beneficiaries but proceeds are not transferred to them until a trustee or a court approves a guardian.
